Where there’s a hobby, there probably is an app to go with it. For a good train spotting app, it would have to have a database to store your sightings and pictures to cross reference what class of train you saw. Also on a phone format would be able to go online and download your up to date safe database.
This app we use is available on Google Play. It’s called quite simply Trainspotter. Your start screen starts with 4 buttons. Plus a train, Trips, Browse and Options. The Plus button is for entering the train number and location. The database is great. You get the picture of the class and in most cases its name plate. There’s no point saying to much as it’s nice to explore.
