For many railways enthusiasts, Train Simulator Classic is a fantastic sim. With so many tracks and loco’s, you can love it. The sim itself is on Steam. Steam.com offers free download of its GUI to install Train Sim and for other games to buy and install new to.
You can buy locos like the class 24 to the Intercity APT which are amazing sims. You can buy addons from the GUI but it’s recommended to try eBay first as there are some cut-price addons. There can also be special offers from Steam so watch out as the discounts can be good.

For beginners, there is a way to learn before you do career mode. There is also a mode to choose your loco and map to run on if possible. Now there are also EU trains and American trains if you want to try them.

There are plenty of extra trains and routes to buy but it’s wise to read other people’s take on the add-on before purchase. The pictures below show some of the trains and routes available to buy.

This is a fantastic sim but if you want to run on high graphics, you need a minimum of 8 GB RAM and a 4 GB graphics card. We tried it on an 8 GB ram i5 processor and ATI Rage 1 GB graphics. You can run it on minimum everything and it works with the odd jerk. Remember to run it in 64-bit mode if you have more than 4 GB RAM and it will be poor anyway trying to run the sim on 4 GB RAM. Using the Steam platform is great. No more disks that get scratched or lost.
